The incident began around 2:34 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, when state police began received 911 calls reporting several suspects attempting to steal vehicles in the area of Kizley Road in the town of Tolland, said the Connecticut State Police.

As troopers were responding to the area, a second 911 call came in from a residence on Williams Way reporting he had interrupted an alleged burglary/attempted larceny in his garage and said one of the suspects pulled a firearm on him when he approached them.

A vehicle description and plate were provided by the victim and broadcast to troopers. The plate provided was confirmed to be on a stolen Acura RDX out of Newington, state police said.

About an hour later, a trooper spotted the Acura traveling south on Old Stafford Road in the town of Tolland. As the trooper turned around to follow the vehicle, it fled at a high rate of speed through the intersection of Old Stafford and Dunn Hill, south onto Tolland Green.

On Tolland Green, the Acura left its lane of travel and drove head-on at a trooper who was traveling north with his lights and sirens activated. The Acura intentionally struck the cruiser at a high rate of speed and both vehicles came to rest off the roadway in the area of Tolland Green, state police said.

Five suspects then fled from the vehicle on foot. A trooper and his partner K-9 Drago chased the driver on foot.

During the foot chase, the suspect, identified as Malik I. Price, age 19, of Hartford, threw a handgun on the ground. K-9 Drago was able to apprehend Price and hold him until the trooper's placed him into custody.

Additional troopers and Tolland Fire Police responded to the area to set up a perimeter. Numerous K-9 teams and Troopers flooded the area.

A short time later, K-9 Drago was able to locate a second suspect, a 15-year-old juvenile, in the woods approximately a quarter-mile to the west of the crash scene.

The juvenile was confirmed to have committed a burglary into an occupied residence while attempting to elude capture, police said.
